How We Got Our Start
I started oyster fishing in the 1980's with my grand father on school holidays etc he taught me a lot about cultivation and handling oysters,I then spent the next 15 years at sea as a fisherman/seaman until an opportunity arose for me to go back to my roots as an Oysterman.I started in 2012 with a wheel barrow and a bucket collecting oysters from the foreshore,however I soon made a name for myself and couldnt keep up with demand so I expanded by building a custom built boat and buying oysters from other gatherers.I now have a large supply base and can produce up to 30,000 of our unique hand gathered wild oysters per week.Our oysters are not altered by human intervention unlike the majority of oysters available which are manufactured in laboratory conditions and altered to grow fast for maximum profit.Ours are all 100% naturally bred and grown to give you a product which is as close to organic as is possible alongside being grown in the best oyster habitat in the country(even the Romans loved Mersea oysters)to give you the world renowned flavour of Mersea oysters.We are incredibly proud of our product which is why we go to such back breaking lengths to produce this amazingly unique and flavoursome product.
